CHAPTER 11

MISCHA

He had taken men’s lives and not felt the rush of power he felt as Simone came alive under his touch and then capitulated to his lovemaking. The raw, feral energy he felt in conquering his mate was addictive, and he reveled in it. He knew he should stop or at least take the few last strokes it would take to push him over the edge, so that a final stroke would bury him completely and he could empty his seed into her.

The swollen knot at the base of his cock pulsed, reminding him he could be deeper within her still. The primitive instinct to knot and tie his mate to him as he marked her as his was unrelenting and rode him harder than any other instinct or desire he’d ever had.

“Mischa?” she whispered with desperation.

He chuckled, a tinge of malevolence in the sound, as he nuzzled her neck. He knew what it was she wanted. She may have climaxed, but she hadn’t felt the rush of his cum. “You will only find your complete satisfaction once I have sent my seed deep inside you. It is said that a child born of a knot will achieve great things.”

Slowly he withdrew and Simone growled in frustration and unmet need. Spinning her around, he fused his mouth to hers, tongue surging deep to tangle and dance with hers. Sweeping her up in his arms, he thought at first to carry her to the bed in her room before finishing what he’d started—to mark and claim her as his. When he was done with her this night and allowed her to sleep, none would dare to dispute it, not even Simone. Midway to the bed he paused; he thought reason had perhaps returned. He was wrong. It wasn’t reason that reared its ugly head, but primitive instinct surging to the forefront, making him forget anything but a primal need to mark her as his so that none could dispute his claim.

He turned and headed out the door of her bedroom, carrying her down the hall to his chambers, marked by a set of double doors. She struggled within his arms, either not wanting to be seen in such a compromising position or because instinctively she knew what awaited her in his bed. He strode through the doorway, pausing only long enough to kick the doors shut behind him.

“Mischa, no,” she said, renewing her struggles.

“Yes,” he growled.

Every feral instinct had come to the fore and taken over. He was only one step away from his dire wolf, and the wall between them felt flimsy and frail. Mischa embraced the power that lay within his inner beast.

He tossed her
